Is Captain Jack's just an online store?
Captain Jack’s has a retail seafood shop by the harbor in Seward, Alaska, where we sell frozen Alaska seafood and spices to complement your fish! Our store hours vary depending on the time of year, but if you are touring Seward’s seaside during the summer months, please stop by!
Are your products all "wild"?
All the products that Captain Jack's Seafood Locker sells are "wild-caught" in the waters of Alaska!
How does the seafood look when it arrives?

Retail fish bought on the website will be vacuum sealed and frozen in approximately ½ to one-pound portions for easier handling in your home. If a product is portioned differently than this, it is stated in the description of that specific item. Crab is wrapped in a plastic "crab bag" inside the shipping box.

Sport-caught processed fish will be portioned in approximately 1-1 ½ lb portions, depending on the size, and portion of the caught fish.

Is all the seafood raw?
All of our products are raw except crab which is precooked when harvested and is stored frozen. It simply needs to be reheated. Also, smoked products are ready to eat after they are thawed. All of Captain Jack’s smoked fish goes through the smoking process in Alaska and should not be confused with ‘lox’ salmon. Our salmon is ‘hot smoked’ and has a flakey texture that tastes like it’s been baked!
Does the fish have bones?
Certain cuts of seafood may be boneless such as our halibut, which is cut in a way that the finished product has no bones. The tail section of a salmon fillet will most times not have bones, but a "shoulder" section will have small bones that are called pin bones.
Are the insulated box and gel ice recyclable?
Styrofoam boxes are not recyclable, but they are reusable until they crack or break - use them as you would any insulated cooler. The gel-ice packs are also reusable until the seal is compromised. Put them in the freezer and they can be used again and again to keep things cold. The gel is water based and is non-toxic.
Will my Alaskan Seafood be frozen when it arrives?

Your seafood should arrive in a partially to completely frozen state. Put it into the freezer immediately if you don't wish to eat it within the next few days.
